"An Egg perhaps?" Frost laughs lightly,
"Forgive me, I could not help myself. Of course, I am always interested in entertaining trinkets. As for what aid I might have provided that day, think nothing of it. I am always pleased to rally to a friend in need. I`m sorry to hear you lost something, however… One can never trust the unseen not to make off with anything that is not nailed down when given the opportunity." He tips his glass to the space the spirit might occupy.
"And who can blame them really. Surly we would do the same, given a similar position." He leans back in his chair, and lights another black cigarette,
"Be that as it may, though, I seem to recall that we came here to discuss a far more urgent matter than trinkets and menial plans regarding who would like to kill who… Something about the fate of the world, no?" He takes an indulgent pull on the cigarette.
"Now, with regards to PENTEX, Doctor Birden, Mr. Bones you remember, is in fact quite well informed with regards to their ultimate plans. I have already spoken to him with regards to this supposed `cure for radiation and cancer` they are tossing about, and I like it no more than you do. What`s more, the appearance of this Ghroth person, (which you can see if you like, I purchased a similar telescope off a collector of sorts who passed through not long ago) has tipped PENTEX`s hand to action. It`s now or never. So one must assume that this gene therapy treatment, that`s what the doctor is calling it, is the first step towards that greater goal.
Oh, and Mr. Bones and Mr. Wiles, Miss Love you know this already, PENTEX ultimate plan involves polluting the world to the point at which it is no longer inhabitable, becoming supremely popular among the small folk while doing so, and then moving all their company people and supporters by some means to some other planet to live happily ever after while this one dies off. Not a bad plan, really, so long as you`re not one of the ones left behind.
And already they are doing a good job at it. People across Europe are clamoring for their share of the stuff, and each extra inch that radiation cloud spreads, so much stronger becomes their popular support. It is not pretty, and while I have an associate willing to work on the radiation problem, we are so far behind in the race as not to be a real competitor. Couple with that the fact that Ghroth has effectively removed the primary stages of their process, and we are floundering grasping for threads.
There may yet be hope, however… If we can alter their production of the cure in such a way as to keep the good traits, while loosing the bad ones (to over simplify things), they can continue their plans as normal, and actually do some good in the world…
But we`ll need to find the production facilities, and institute the alterations."
He sits back, and takes a long drink.
"Or at least, that is my suggestion."
